Playacar is part of Playa del CarmenIt is a planned, upscale, secure neighborhood just next to Playa del Carmen. Playacar has a 18 hole golf course, a dozen large all inclusive hotels, and private condos which are available for rent. Playacar is a little removed from Mexico, and the area is
almost exclusively catered to the all-inclusive crowd. The Royal Hideaway
Resort is pretty spectacular, and the Riu Yucatan has the best beach.
If you are into the open bar, gourmet food 24 hours a day, beach activities
and guy by the pool with a microphone screaming for drunk volunteers to
dress up in Sumo wrestler costumes and bump into each other to determine
the world champion, well, these are the resorts for you. The Royal Maeva
is the only all inclusive in Playacar that includes the price of diving
with the normal rate. Most all inclusive hotels in the south of Cancun are strictly off limits to locals (like us) and other non-guests who might try to scam the free food and drinks, so we count on hotel guests to give us their honest opinions. Check out people's reviews of all inclusive hotels. Also, you can get a video from Hotel Mexico of several hotels so you can compare for yourself. Make sure if you stay at an all-inclusive to get away and see a few ruins or some unspoiled beach to the south of Playa del Carmen. It is well worth the effort. Contact Alltournative Tours for special personalized adventure ecotours. has real estate for sale in Playacar. Villas Playa del Carmen offers vacation rentals in the Playacar resort area. MM Rentals and Realty has been working in Playa del Carmen for over a decade and has top quality vacation rentals (many with pools or on the beach). Even nature is planned hereJust wave to the guard when you drive through the Playacar entrance, and watch out for the trees they've left growing in the road. There is a pretty nice aviary which is mostly cage free. You can see 30+ species of birds, including some very friendly ones in the mesh covered flying cage. The toucan is particularly curious. The Xaman-Ha Aviary costs about $5. To get there, turn into the first Playacar entrance you see past Playa del Carmen. There is a new shopping mall in Playacar, selling all sorts of handicrafts, silver, film, etc. |
