Cozumel Island |

Cousteau discovered diving hereCozumel Island, though very crowded still offers world class diving. The government had the foresight to protect the coral filled Palancar reef as a national forest some years ago, thus outlawing spear fishing, and destruction of coral. Because of this, though you may see almost as many divers as fish, you will see an incredible wall and swarms of huge groupers, sea turtles, and barracuda among other colorful tropical fish. The healthy 2-4 knot current both clears the water, providing near perfect visibility, and carries divers along scenic drift dives, just sit back and enjoy the view. Kind of like being on a mile long underwater moving sidewalk. The leeward side of Cozumel offers good diving year round. Our recommended dive operation: Albatros Charters. See the Cozumel Directory for more dive shops. |
