Akumal - the main one

Akumal has a decent grocery store on the right on the main road - Super Chomak - which has food from Mexico and imports. You can get Pop Tarts, spaghetti sauce, and El Paso taco shells flown in from the USA. They also have a laundry, post office, money exchange, pharmacy, kids club, dive shop, beach house rentals, hotels, and car rentals.

Turn left after you pass under the security arches for:

• Mexico Dream Villas - has all sizes of houses to rent around Akumal
• La Lunita Restaurant - creative Mexican cuisine at the most popular restaurant in Akumal, Mexico. Open for dinner (reservations recommended in high season).
• Galleria Gloria - in the back on your left featuring local or locally inspired artists
• Akumal Luxury Vacation Rentals - top quality beachfront villas for rent
• Hacienda de la Tortuga Hotel - Beachfront all suites hotel on Half Moon Bay 984 87 59068
• Turtle Bay Cafe - next door to the gallery with wonderful breakfasts, fresh juices and pastries, healthy salads and sandwiches. Usually only open for breakfast and lunch.
• La Buena Vida - continue on the road, past a bunch of really nice houses. La Buena Vida is on the right with 1/2 price drinks on swings from 5-7. You can eat on beachfront tables, or upstairs in the main restaurant. They also have snorkeling (bring your own equipment).
• Yal Ku Lagoon - keep going past Las Buena Vida to the end of the Akumal road. You have to pay to get in (fees go toward keeping the lagoon clean). but the cove is calm and a decent place to snorkel. Bring water and snacks since there isn't a store or restaurant yet. 984-875-9050
